Meet the Staff

It is our pleasure as the Aqueduct Staff to ensure a time of renewal during your stay. Many of our staff members have been here for 10 to 20 plus years. We are at your command throughout the day, meeting all your needs with quality service and our renowned friendly hospitality.

Drew and Liza Howell - Executive Directors

Drew and Liza bought Aqueduct from the Tyson family in November 2006 after much thought and prayer. Their heart is to bless the Chapel Hill community and see Aqueduct grow in many ways. Drew and Liza are natives of Chapel Hill, and have four children: Lily, Beth, Kate and Andy. The Howell family attends Sunrise Church and their children attend Trinity School.

Jim Pendergrass - General Manager

Jim, born in Durham, came to Aqueduct in November 2007 to oversee business operations in a leadership capacity. Jim brings with him experience in engineering, building, business development and a heart to see Aqueduct grow. Married for over 35 years to high school sweetheart, Beth, they have two grown sons and six grandchildren.

Joy Snyder - Director of Sales and Marketing

Joy is a native of Durham, and began working at Aqueduct in February 2007. She has experience in public relations and writing and received a bachelor's degree in Communications from Lee University in 2005. Her responsibilities include booking all events at Aqueduct, updating collateral material, press releases and Web site maintenance. Joy resides in Raleigh and enjoys reading, listening or playing music, running and yoga, traveling and spending time with friends.

Elizabeth Wallace - Director of Administrative Services and Conference Development

Elizabeth joined Aqueduct in January 2008 and is responsible for developing the Mount Carmel Ministries conferences as well as all administrative work. Elizabeth enjoys traveling, cultural events, deep conversations with good friends and taking drives with her husband, Ross, on his motorcycle.

Mamie Parker - Director of Guest Services

Mamie has been with Aqueduct since 1979, and has been a huge part of Aqueduct's growth for over 25 years. She has always been committed to quality service and ensuring hospitality that exceeds expectations. Her responsibilities include refreshing overnight rooms daily, serving during daytime meals, overseeing housekeeping staff and making sure that Aqueduct's facilties are consistently well-kept and beautiful. Mamie resides in Pittsboro with her husband Harvey, and has a son, Curtis.

Allison Teresa McKinney - Housekeeping

Teresa began working at Aqueduct in 2001 and has been an integral part of the hospitality team. Teresa lives in Chapel Hill and has one daughter, Phillipa and boyfriend Rameko. Teresa enjoys cooking and singing and has blessed many of Aqueduct's guests with soulful reneditions of old gospel songs.

Frenchie Nettles - Housekeeping

Frenchie joined Aqueduct in October 2007 and is a part of the hospitality and daytime serving team. Frenchie has a wide range of interests and experience including housekeeping and catering, and playing basketball. Frenchie resides in Pittsboro and has four children and three grandchildren

William Woods - Cook and Outdoor Maintenance

William has been at Aqueduct for over seven years, and has helped in many different capacities. He is responsible for keeping the grounds beautiful, maintaining equipment and prepares lunch for our guests. His many talents are a true blessing to Aqueduct. William resides in Chapel Hill with his wife Topsy.

Garry Sharpe -Cook

Garry is our part-time evening and weekend cook, and has been a key part of Aqueduct for many years. He works full-time at Carol Woods Retirement and resides in Chapel Hill with his wife and son.

John Farrington - Breakfast Cook

John is also a part-time cook at Aqueduct, and has been preparing breakfast for our guests for many years. He also works as a full-time cook at Carol Woods Retirement.

Sonia Johnson - Housekeeping
